Your support makes all the difference.Manchester City and Ivory Coast midfielder Yaya Touré was named African Footballer of the Year last night, finishing ahead of Ghana's Andre "Dede" Ayew and Mali's Seydou Keita.
Touré, the second Ivorian to lift the award after twice-winner Didier Drogba, enjoyed a fine year for club and country. He scored the winning goal in City's 1-0 victory over Stoke City in the FA Cup final and helped Ivory Coast finish their African Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with a 100 per cent record.
The 28-year-old thanked his family, including brother Kolo, and City team-mates in a brief acceptance speech at the Confederation of African Football awards in Ghana.
