Your support makes all the difference.FC Aarau’s 1-0 defeat to FC Zurich was marred by a horror tackle by Sandro Wieser on Gilles Yapi-Yapo that left the Zurich player with six different injuries, but a brilliant triple penalty save has been completely overlooked.
Aarau’s goalkeeper Joel Mall is seen in the video below smirking in the direction of penalty taker Mohamed Chermiti, but even he won’t have expected what happened next.
Chermiti strikes the penalty – not the most convincing of efforts – to the left of the Swiss goalkeeper, who palms the ball away back into the path of Chermiti. With the goal at his mercy, the Tunisian striker volleys the ball goal-bound with his weaker left foot, only to see Mall get back up and throw himself across the goal-mouth to pull off an incredible save.
Maybe it’s third time lucky? The ball somehow falls again into the path of Chermiti, who having already failed with both his left and right foot attempts to score with his hand. Enter Igor N’Ganga, the Congolese defender who acrobatically clears the ball off the line and away to safety.

Despite Mall’s heroics, he did have to pick the ball out of the net during the game as Aarau went on to lose 1-0. Unfortunately, the match will be remembered for the sickening challenge that looks to have ended Yapi-Yapo’s career instead.
