Thomas Sorensen may still make the World Cup after being told he does not need surgery after dislocating his elbow against Chelsea on Sunday. "It was put back without the need [for surgery]," said manager Tony Pulis.
Sunderland
The club have said that they will speak to the FA regarding Alan Hutton's three-game ban following his dismissal against Hull. The defender was sent off after a clash with Jozy Altidore. The club said: "We are appealing against the severity of the sanction."
Fulham
Roy Hodgson said he would be "amazed" if the Premier League takes action against the club after he named a much-changed team for the game against Everton on Sunday. He said: "We're going into very dangerous ground when the Premier League decides whether teams are strong or not."
Hamburg
Coach Bruno Labbadia has been sacked just three days before their Europa League semi-final second leg against Fulham. Chairman Bernd Hoffman said :"We need to improve the probability of us being successful on Thursday."
Burnley
Chairman Barry Kilby expects Brian Laws to stay on as manager after a 4-0 defeat to Liverpool confirmed their relegation to the Championship. "It's a two-way conversation but Brian is our manager and I've no plans to change that," Kilby said.
Republic of Ireland
Giovanni Trapattoni has named eight uncapped players for a training camp next month. David Meyler, of Sunderland, and Keith Fahey, of Birmingham, are two of the new call-ups. The group will then be joined by the senior players for friendlies with Paraguay and Algeria.
