Ryan Nelsen will be allowed to return home to Christchurch this week after his manager Steve Kean gave his blessing.
The Blackburn defender did not request any leave but following the earthquake admitted that he was finding it emotionally difficult to train. And following his sending-off against Aston Villa on Saturday, he is now suspended for the Fulham game this weekend.
Kean said: "It has been a really tough week for Ryan with all the commotion back home. He has shown total professionalism. He's trained every day and really wanted to play."
