Neil Warnock: It's great for Championship to have Magpies

If I had to name three teams from the Championship who will be promoted, I'd go for West Bromwich Albion, who've kept together most of their team, my old team Sheffield United, who lost in the play-off final and have the benefit of the Carlos Tevez Affair compensation money, and... well, I'll cheat and say either Roy Keane's Ipswich, or another relegated club in Middlesbrough.

Most managers are still trying to get players in but Newcastle haven't actually got a manager to sign anyone. So while the bookies make them short odds it is not going to be easy for them. They have the parachute money (£11.8m, which is on top of the £2.5m we all get in the league) but they also have a massive wage bill to service and the instability at the club is not going to help. A new manager will settle things down – but I'm hoping they don't get one until after we play them on 22 August.

On the pitch every opposition team will treat their match like a cup final. Good players will relish going to St James' Park and the away matches will have a similar atmosphere as they will sell out every away game. It might not be great for Newcastle to be in the Championship, but it's great for the Championship to have Newcastle.
