From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Mesut Ozil has hailed one of Arsenal's new signings this summer - fitness coach Shad Forsythe.

Forsythe joined the Gunners from Germany's national team during pre-season, and was an integral part of the World Cup winners set-up in Brazil this summer.

The American coach had been working with the German national team since 2004.

Forsythe is tasked with improving a Gunners' squad which has been dogged with injuries over recent seasons.

Ozil himself missed six weeks of last season with a hamstring problem, and has worked with Forsythe since making his debut for the national team in 2009.

Forsythe has also worked with Arsenal's other World Cup-winning German players Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski. Ozil, Mertesacker and Podolski all returned to training on Monday after being given an extended break after Germany's World Cup triumph.
