The former Argentinian World Cup winner suffered minor injuries after he lost control of his rented vehicle in pouring rain on Wednesday night.
The 39-year-old Maradona was pinned inside the car with his legs stuck under the steering wheel until rescue workers arrived.
Maradona, who arrived in Cuba in January for drug rehabilitation, was taken to hospital where doctors found he had no broken bones.
There was one other person travelling in the car, but the passenger's identity and injuries are not known.
