Robin van Persie is set to play a key role in Manchester United's final five games in the Premier League this season after making his return from injury for the Under-21s in their 1-1 draw at Leicester City last night.
Van Persie played 62 minutes in the match as he made his comeback from an ankle injury.
The Dutchman had been sidelined since 21 February, when he picked up an injury in United's 2-1 defeat at Swansea City.
The striker has scored 10 goals for the club this season.
Van Persie, 31, provided the assist for United's equaliser in the Under-21 game against Leicester last night, when his pass found Sean Goss to finish.
Jonny Evans also returned for United at the King Power Stadium, but it was a night fo mixed success on the injury front, as both Adnan Januzaj and Rafael both limped out of the match.
Januzaj was substituted after receiving a knock, while Rafael was withdrawn with a rib problem.
United are next in action at Everton on Sunday, and then take on West Brom (h), Crystal Palace (a), Arsenal (h) and Hull City (a) as they aim to secure a second-placed finish in the Premier League this season.
