Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has declared that if he was ever to return to England he would only play for Liverpool.

The Uruguayan returned to Anfield for the first time since making his £75million move to Barcelona in the summer, playing in a Steven Gerrard tribute match in aid of the Liverpool FC Foundation.

Suarez, who scored 82 goals in 133 matches for the Reds, received a great reception from the Liverpool crowd when he returned to the field with another former Liverpool goal scoring legend, Fernando Torres.

Speaking after the game to LFC TV, he was asked if might return to the club in the future.

"You never know in football what the future holds but if I ever play in England again I will play for the Liverpool team and not another team," he said.

Suarez arrived at the club just as Torres was making his £50m move to Chelsea - the Uruguayan admits he regrets never getting the chance to play with the Spaniard.

"It was great for me to play up front alongside Fernando," he added. "Four years ago when I signed for Liverpool, I crossed my fingers to play with Fernando and he left three days after I signed.

"It was a great day for the other players but for me and Fernando it was a great chance to play together.

"I've missed the fans. The atmosphere is unbelievable, it's amazing. Everyone who's played for Liverpool knows how important the supporters are. They know they are in my heart."
