Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Have you ever travelled to your old workplace only to realise you were meant to be heading somewhere else? That’s the question that Jamie Carragher asked on Friday morning – not because he was being inquisitive, but because he turned up at Liverpool’s Melwood training ground instead of the gym.
The Anfield legend has made a name for himself in developing into one of the leading football analysts since hanging up his boots in 2013. Alongside his fellow ex-England team-mate Gary Neville, he has become the face of Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football.
However, Carragher experienced a moment to forget – literally – on Friday morning when he made the usual trip from his home to the gym, only to arrive at Liverpool’s training ground.
Carragher posted on Twitter: “Anyone ever drive to there[sic] previous employment without thinking? I've just drove to Melwood! Supposed to be going the gym!!”
While Carragher’s best days on the pitch are certainly behind him, let’s hope he doesn’t get quite so forgetful when on live TV.
