Football round-up: QPR refuse to rule out Joey Barton exit this week

Joey Barton's future at Queens Park Rangers remains in doubt despite his key role in helping the London club move up to second in the Championship.

The controversial midfielder, who recently rejected interest from Crystal Palace, earned high praise from his assistant manager, Kevin Bond, for his performance in yesterday's 1-0 win at Leeds.

The former Manchester City, Newcastle and Marseille midfielder had what appeared to be a valid goal disallowed for offside and delivered the free-kick for Clint Hill's 75th-minute winner. Bond said: "Joey has done very well for us. He missed both pre-season trips but forced his way into the side, has played all the matches and has been very focused."

But, asked whether Barton would still be at the club after tomorrow night's transfer deadline, he added: "I really don't know. Nothing would surprise me."

Ince makes father's day

Tom Ince's stunning second-half strike secured a 1-0 win against Watford to propel the Blackpool side managed by his father, Paul, back to the top of the Championship.

Watford, who have also made a strong start to the season, dominated the first half at Bloomfield Road but Troy Deeney saw his penalty saved by Matt Gilks, while Marco Faraoni struck the frame of the goal twice.

But Blackpool were much improved after the break and a fine finish from Ince at the end of a mazy 81st-minute run made it four wins from five games.

Ings can only get better

Burnley continued their amazing run of results against Derby with a 3-0 victory at Pride Park.

First-half goals from Danny Ings and Sam Vokes put the visitors in charge and, after Tom Heaton saved Johnny Russell's penalty, Jason Shackell clinched the points with a 73rd-minute spot-kick. Burnley, who move up to third in the table, have not lost to Derby since January 2007, a record that includes three wins at Pride Park.

Royals rumble Yeovil

Adam Le Fondre's late penalty condemned Yeovil Town to a fifth straight defeat in the club's first League meeting with Reading.

The striker converted 13 minutes from time at Huish Park, after Luke Ayling had felled him inside the area, to seal a 1-0 victory and lift Nigel Adkins's side into ninth.

Rhodes is colossus of Rovers

Jordan Rhodes scored twice as Blackburn sent Bolton to the bottom of the Championship with a 4-1 win over their Lancashire rivals at Ewood Park.

Rovers had taken control with two goals in as many first-half minutes from David Dunn and Rhodes before Alex Baptiste's effort reduced the deficit.

Corry Evans opened his account for Blackburn with a volley 20 minutes from time and Rhodes then tapped home for Rovers' first victory over Bolton – who are still without a win – in five attempts. On the prospect of Rhodes being sold before tomorrow's transfer deadline, Gary Bowyer, Blackburn's manager, said: "When I took the job the owners said Jordan wasn't for sale, so as soon as 11pm comes on Monday, you'll have to think of a different question. He's better than £10 million, we paid near that for him."

Familiar foes sink Leicester

Michael Morrison and Yann Kermorgant haunted their old club yesterday by scoring the Charlton goals that ended Leicester City's unbeaten start to the season.

The strikes, in either half, clinched a 2-1 triumph at The Valley to ease the pressure on the hosts' manager, Chris Powell, whose side were previously winless.

Leicester had Matty James sent off for a second booking early in the second half and, even though Danny Drinkwater replied, the 59th-minute effort from Kermorgant proved decisive.

Lisbie ends 62-year wait

Leyton Orient won 2-1 at Colchester to maintain their perfect record in League One and continue their best-ever start to a season.

David Mooney put Russell Slade's side ahead before the hosts equalised through Jabo Ibehre. But Kevin Lisbie, the ex-Colchester striker, then headed home to secure a fifth straight League win and Orient's first victory at the north Essex club since 1951.

England woe

Two extra-time headers by France ended England's hopes of winning the European Women's Under-19 Championship. The final, held in Llanelli yesterday, was settled by Sandie Toletti and Aminata Diallo.
