Football in brief: Hamstrung Zabaleta may not appear at Wigan
Manchester City: Defender Pablo Zabaleta is a doubt for the club's match at Wigan next weekend after he returned home early from international duty.
The Argentina right-back travelled to South America despite reporting a hamstring problem after Monday's draw with Aston Villa. Zabaleta has not played for his country since the Beijing Olympics over a year ago but was named in Diego Maradona's squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay and Peru. However, the 24-year-old was always a serious doubt from the moment he complained of a problem, despite having played 90 minutes at Villa Park.
Arsenal's target Chamakh 'would only move abroad'
France: Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh insists he will only leave the Ligue 1 club for a foreign team. Chamakh has long been linked with a move away from the Stade Chaban-Delmas and made no secret in the summer of his desire to play in the Premier League. The Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger has already hinted at making another bid for the Morocco international in January while Juventus are reportedly set to join the chase. "I was made here and there's none better than les Girondins in France," Chamakh said. "We can talk about Lyons, Marseilles... but if I had to leave, it would be for somewhere abroad."
