Former chairman of West Ham Eggert Magnusson is suing the club and its owner, Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson, for breach of contract. Magnusson isdemanding 200m Icelandic krona (about £1.1m) for an alleged violation of hisseverance settlement.
The case was registered at Reykjavik Municipal Court on Thursday. Magnusson became chairman of West Ham in 2006 after Gudmundsson bought the majority shareholding in the club. Gudmundsson dismissed him in September 2007 and they concluded a severance settlement in which Gudmundsson bought out Magnusson's stake.
Bullard 'thinks he is too expensive for Fulham'
The manager Roy Hodgson has cast doubt over Jimmy Bullard's future by suggesting the midfielder is unsure if the club can stretch to his contract demands. The 29-year-old is tied to Fulham until the end of next season but is after an improved deal, believing he was instrumental in their Premier League survival last term. "We're still waiting to see what happens because he's got his own ambitions," said Hodgson. "I'm not party to discussions. I think he is concerned the club can't match his wage demands."
