From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Whoever said the Germans lacked a sense of humour?
Bayern Munich last night proved that is certainly not the case as they took a moment out from drubbing Roma 7-1 in the Champions League to make a joke at West Brom's expense.
On Monday night, the official West Brom Twitter account appeared to mock Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini as he prepared to come on.
It read: "Fellaini has now taken his tracksuit off, fortunately he has a Man Utd strip on underneath".
Fellaini had the last laugh as within moments of coming on he scored a screamer into the top corner in the match that ended 2-2.
Since then, Anders Lindegaard has accused the Baggies of lacking class and the club have since apologised, insisting it was not meant to be disrespectful and that the comment was in relation to the cold weather.
Everyone thought it was over, and it was until last night.
Bayern Munich, one of the giants of European football, decided to get involved by posting the tweet below as Franck Ribery prepared to come on during their 7-1 win over Roma.
They weren't the only ones. West Brom's bitter rivals Wolves also got in on the act during their 2-0 win over Middlesbrough.
We'll be keeping a close eye for any more during tonight's games.
