According to the Daily Mail, the former Manchester United star let the stink bomb loose at the rear of the aircraft in an attempt to cause maximum chaos.
The flight attendants were later required to apologise to disgruntled passengers as Pique kept his lips sealed.
Barca were flying to Helsinki where they are scheduled to play a friendly match against Helsingin Jalkapalloklubi on Saturday.
The 27-year-old, who is married to Colombian singer-songwriter Shakira, has a reputation for practical jokes after previously pelting the team bus with sunflower seeds before prematurely announcing the birth of his young son.
Pique is also rumoured to have once burnt a moped belonging to a member of the club's staff because it was too noisy. Both the mischievous defender and Lionel Messi, the other culprit, later brought the victim a brand new model.
The La Liga giants, on the other hand, hope to complete a £15m deal for Arsenal's Thomas Vermaelen after the Belgian opted for Spain rather than joining Manchester United.
The move is reliant upon personal terms being agreed between Vermaelen's agent and the Nou Camp outfit with the player asking for £80,000-a-week.
