From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona PR campaign is well and truly underway ahead of the January transfer window as Paulinho becomes the latest player to talk up a move for the Liverpool playmaker.
As Barca do when pursuing all of their top targets, players of past and present come out in the media fawning over the prospective transfer’s suitability to arriving at the Nou Camp.
Former Red Luis Suarez spoke openly about the Brazilian arriving at the club this week, as well as Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu saying the money for Coutinho was there.
And Paulinho, in an interview with Deportivo Mundo, has said the transfer would “bring him a lot of happiness” and said Coutinho would make a difference to Barcelona.
“I've already talked a few times about the Coutinho question,” Paulinho said. “Everyone expects great players to come to Barca.
“We have a very strong group of great players; without Coutinho, we're doing a great job. On Coutinho, it isn't necessary to say much. He's a great player, who has been making a difference in his team, the Brazilian team.
“He's a young player, but has a lot of experience in Europe. I want him to come; I think it would be a great signing for Barca. It would bring me a lot of happiness, because we would have another great player and another Brazilian.”
