From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

A great fixture for the return of Premier League football and one I'm confident City will win. Jurgen Klopp may have rejuvenated Liverpool somewhat, but I doubt they will be able to cope with the attacking onslaught that I imagine City will provide.
Klopp may try to sit back and soak up pressure with an aim to hit City on the break, but I'd bank on us breaking them down. Raheem Sterling will be in the mood to show his old side what they've been missing and De Bruyne seems to keep getting better.
Hopefully Aguero should make the bench and maybe even Silva. That will give the whole side a boost knowing we could potentially call on top two attacking talents should we need them.
I'm predicting Liverpool to try, but fail to contain City and Pellegrini's men to come away with a 2-1 victory.

It is probably one of the hardest fixtures of the Premier League season, but there is no reason why we can't feel confident going into this match, especially after coming from behind to take apart Chelsea 3-1 at Stamford Bridge last month.
Admittedly, City are a far better side than the Blues this season and the home defeat to Crystal Palace before the international break did dent some confidence, but nonetheless, I wouldn't bet against us taking something away from the Etihad.
I expect Christian Benteke to be raring to go after having used the break to get back to full fitness and with Coutinho and Ibe on top form too, we look extremely dangerous going forward. It is at the back that worries me, but I suspect the more time spent with Klopp at Melwood the more our defence will improve on its frailties.
Prediction: Manchester City 2-2 Liverpool. This fixture always provides goals and I fancy Benteke getting a brace here.
