Gareth Bale is pretending he knows nothing about it

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The nation is still riding high after reaching the semi-finals of Euro 2016 this summer, in what was their first international tournament in 58 years.
Wales are hoping it won’t be a similar wait for the next one though having won one and drawn two of their opening three games in Group D of their World Cup qualifying campaign.
The Dragons suffered a disappointing draw at home to Georgia on Sunday, who are ranked 137th in the world – 127 places below Wales.
However, it was not the football which people have been noticing recently, but the pre-match team photo.
Wales lined up for the photo with three players standing behind, while the remaining eight were crouched in front, days after an equally terrible attempt at a picture prior to the 2-2 draw away to Austria.
Sunday’s scorer Gareth Bale refused to give away whether the photos were an in-joke between the players ahead of the Georgia game.
When asked about the photos, Bale, with a cheeky across his face, said: “I don’t know what you’re on about.”
And when it was suggested Wales were just rubbish at team photos, the Real Madrid superstar said: “I think it must be that, yeah.”
