Robbie Savage will miss next month's Wales v England World Cup qualifying match through suspension, the Football Association of Wales said yesterday.

The FAW received confirmation yesterday from Fifa, football's world governing body, that Savage must serve a one-match ban after his dismissal against Northern Ireland last month for a fracas in which he reacted angrily to a challenge by Michael Hughes.

Ceri Stennett, an FAW spokesman, said: "It could have been heavier, but we would have been disappointed if it had. Robbie has to accept it."
