The Hamilton goalkeeper kept Germany out almost single-handed but did anyone else come close to his performance?

Michael McGovern put in a superb display of shot-stopping to keep the score down to a single goal and increase Northern Ireland hopes of qualification for the last sixteen as one of the four best third-placed teams - something which was confirmed by Tuesday's late results in Group D.
Thomas Muller, Mesut Ozil, Sami Khedira and Gomez were among the players denied amid a fine defensive effort as the Germans were forced to settle for a single-goal victory.
But did any other players shine? Check out our ratings and let us know your comments in the section below.
NORTHERN IRELAND
Michael McGovern 9 out of 10
Just superb. Stood up well to deny Muller, Gomez and Ozil in opening 15 minutes and made fine stop from Gotze after break, among many, many more. Kept Irish hopes alive in keeping the score down to one.
Aaron Hughes 6 out of 10
Given headaches by speed and trickery of Germany attacks at times but stuck at his task.
Gareth McAuley 6 out of 10
Veteran cult hero also struggled at times but could not be faulted for effort. Deflected in Gomez goal.
Craig Cathcart 7 out of 10
Was not given a moment's rest by the world champions' forward line but did not shirk from his task and has had an impressive finals. Thus far?
Jonny Evans 8 out of 10
Headed over in one of Ireland's rare forays upfield and shone at the back at the other end. The most agile and alert of the beaten defenders and did not look as out of place as some of his colleagues.
Jamie Ward 7 out of 10
Tested Neuer from distance with a low effort and remained positive whenever he was on the ball, which was less and less after the break.
Corry Evans 6 out of 10
Blocked Kroos effort and given thankless task of helping out defence with German onslaught. Not overawed but kept busy throughout.
Steven Davis 6 out of 10
Captain was quiet before the break amid the swamping of German's attacks but came into his own more after the break and had a couple of attempts.
Oliver Norwood 5 out of 10
Not an evening for an attacking talent to shine. Unable to showcase his dead ball skill and floundered toward the end.
Stuart Dallas 6 out of 10
Enjoyed a couple of forways forward but was more busied helping with the containment job on the German flanks. Played his part in the defensive effort.
Conor Washington 5 out of 10
Isolated as the Germans pummelled the Northern Ireland backline. Blocked a shot from Khedira and ran flanks but to little effect.
Kyle Lafferty 6 out of 10
Gave defensive effort fresh legs as late substitute and kept German backline more occupied than they had been.
GERMANY
Manuel Neuer 6 out of 10
One of his quietest nights for a while and finished group stage with three clean sheets. One of those evenings with his wandering from the area makes sense.
Joshua Kimmich 8 out of 10
Very impressive showing from the Bayern youngester. Prodded over after a save from Gotze and equally adept attacking as defending.
Jerome Boateng 7 out of 10
Composed is an understatement. Used strength and positional skills to keep Ireland threat to an absolute minimum on the rare occasions the ball was at his end.
Mats Hummels 6 out of 10
Not his busiest afternoon - underworked at the back and had time and space to move forward when the play allowed.
Jonas Hector 7 out of 10
Impressive use of the flanks and almost set up Gomez chance.
Sami Khedira 6 out of 10
Had one shot blocked and another saved by McGovern, but he was hardly alone in that.
Toni Kroos 7 out of 10
As careful in possession as ever, he did not shine as much as in some recent matches. Had chance blocked.
Mesut Ozil 8 out of 10
Superb early ball almost set Muller through before going close himself from close range. Began the move for the only goal and was a threat throughout with quick feet and eye for a pass.
Thomas Muller 7 out of 10
Remains quite the Euros conundrum. Goals galore at the World Cup but scoreless here, despite numerous chances. Unable to beat McGovern when clean through early on and sent another shot
wide of the post. Hit bar and post and st up Gomez opener.
Mario Gotze 6 out of 10
Helped create chance for Muller that hit a post and showed fine control before having another effort blocked by McGovern.
Mario Gomez 7 out of 10
Denied by desperate lunge of McGovern. Chested into path of Muller and had compliment returned to grab the winner on the half hour mark.
Andre Schurrle 6 out of 10
Brought on for final half hour but the game had long quitened down by then.
