Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Mark Hughes will be delighted to welcome back John Hartson and Craig Bellamy for tonight's friendly in Riga against Latvia as his team prepare for their World Cup campaign.

Wales' best front partnership have constantly been affected by injuries and have played together in just four of 14 internationals since their masterful double act shot down Italy in Cardiff almost two years ago.

Wales face Azerbaijan and Northern Ireland next month in their opening World Cup qualification games and then turn their attention to England and the clash at Old Trafford in October.

"John [Hartson] has looked very sharp in training and he is very happy that he has recovered from his back operation," Hughes said. "They [Bellamy and Hartson] have had their injury problems, but I have talked to them both since they joined the squad and they are very, very positive.

"Craig is full of confidence. He has a new hairstyle and he looks very happy."
