John Stones is set to be miss England Under-21s' first group game against Portugal in the European championships tomorrow with concussion.

It is a major blow for Gareth Southgate for whom Stones, 20, was one of the major figures in the team.

Stones is one of the five England players who has been capped by Roy Hodgson's seniors. He picked up the injury in the closed session yesterday.

The likely replacement is Middlesbrough's Ben Gibson. The rest of the 22 players trained today in Olomouc in the south-east Czech Republic.
