Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The European Championship is set to draw in large television audiences across the United Kingdom with England, Wales and Northern Ireland all participating this summer in France.
The BBC and ITV are set to share the broadcasting rights with matches spread evenly across three kick-off times (2pm, 5pm and 8pm) to secure the best audience figures at peak times.
As hosts, it falls to France to play the opening match of this summer’s feast of football with Romania looking to dampen the party spirit at the Stade de France in Paris on Friday 10 June.
ITV have been handed the privilege the show the full match live at 8pm, proceeded by coverage of the tournament’s opening ceremony.
Meanwhile, England’s first fixture is against Russia the following day with ITV yet again being the broadcaster with the rights to the clash in Marseille.
The BBC does, however, have the highly-anticipated meeting with Wales on Thursday 16 June before ITV again covers the final hurdle for Roy Hodgson’s men, a tie against Skovakia on Monday 20 June.
See below for a full list of all the group stage matches and which broadcaster will be showing live coverage. Please note all knock-out ties are set to be decided at a later date...
