The European Championships has seen legends battle it out all for a chance to lift the famous Henri Delaunay trophy.

Marco van Basten, Zinedine Zidane, Johan Cruyff, Thierry Henry, Bobby Moore and Gerd Müller – players etched in history for goals that crushed the dreams of their opposition, and for performances that made them national heroes.

Who from the current crop of European stars might find themselves alongside these former greats? In a sport where youngsters grow up dreaming of scoring that goal, strikers are idolised above all other positions.

Above is a list of the continents golden-boot winners, world-record holders, and promising stars, who’ll all have their nations hopes heaped upon their shoulders. While a host of the players listed are seasoned veterans, some will be entering their first international tournament.

We'd put our money on one of these 10 to score the winner come 10 July and propel their side to glory at the Stade de France.
