England will prepare for their assault on Euro 2016 with a warm-up friendly against Australia after failing to secure a match against long-time rivals Argentina, it is being reported.

England will face Russia, Solvakia and Wales in Group B when they compete in the European Championships this summer, and Sky Sports claim that manager Roy Hodgson is looking to secure three pre-tournament friendlies in order to prepare his squad for the campaign.

It’s claimed that after a friendly with Argentina failed to be agreed, the Football Association moved to organise a match with Australia that has been pencilled in for 27 May. It was added that one of the other two matches is likely to be played against Portugal.

As well as selecting his final 23-man squad for the tournament, Hodgson is keen to try and replicate the atmospheric conditions that the Three Lions will find themselves in.

With this in mind, the FA are looking at playing one of England’s home matches away from Wembley Stadium, in a bid to get the players used to how support from the fans will differ at each stadium in France.
