Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Roy Hodgson will run the rule over his provisional squad for this summer's European Championships for the first time as England take on Turkey at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester.
Jack Wilshere, the injury-plagued Arsenal midfielder, makes his first start for the national team in 11 months, while Jamie Vardy will be hoping to score in a third consecutive international game.

England are without their contingent of Manchester United players (Chris Smalling, Wayne Rooney and Marcus Rashford) who overcame Crystal Palace to win the FA Cup at Wembley on Saturday.
Daniel Sturridge, James Milner, Nathaniel Clyne and Adam Lallana, who played in Liverpool's Europa League final defeat to Sevilla last Wednesday, are also absent.
46 min ENG 1-1 TUR Turkey get us under way for the second half - no changes yet from Roy Hodgson. Dele Alli gets an early chance outside the area after Vardy's run and cutback is deflected out. Alli's shot is deflected itslef by two Turkey defenders, falling kindly for Babacan to gather.
52 min ENG 1-1 TUR Dier and Alli combine well to free Wilshere, but the Arsenal man is unable to get to the ball. Kane does, from an offside position, and his shot into the net does not count this time.
53 min ENG 1-1 TUR Cenk Tosun heads the wrong side of a post (right side, from an English perspective..) and England have had another warning.
54 min ENG 1-1 TUR Tosun then again goes close, turning and screwing wide from the edge of the area.
56 min ENG 1-1 TUR Kane, again on free-kick duties, sends in from the left wing where Stones rises. His header is deflected behind, but a goal kick is given.
???? @vardy7 scores a late winner for the #ThreeLions to secure victory over Turkey. https://t.co/cdUP0aKhY8
