England celebrated their 1,000th game in style with a 7-0 thrashing of Montenegro to secure their place at the Euro 2020.

After the build-up to the game was overshadowed by the altercation between Raheem Sterling and Joe Gomez, Gareth Southgate's youthful side raced into a 5-0 lead by half-time to finally close the door on any questions of distraction within the squad.

Ben Chilwell completed a hat-trick of assists, setting up Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for the opener, before a quickfire double from Harry Kane. Marcus Rashford then added the fourth before Kane completed his hat-trick by the 37th minute.

England inevitably eased off the in the second half, but still added another two goals to their tally, first through an own goal before Tammy Abraham completed the rout off the bench.
