It was a less than ideal start for the hosts, with Valon Berisha putting Kosovo ahead after 35 seconds following a loose pass from Michael Keane.
But Gareth Southgate’s men hit back hard as England’s front line set about terrorising the visitors. Raheem Sterling, Harry Kane and Jadon Sancho all found the back of the net before the break, with the Borussia Dortmund forward striking twice while Mergim Vojvoda fell foul of an own-goal.
However, Kosovo refused to roll over. After the restart Berisha bagged his second of the night with a curling effort before Vedat Muriqi converted from the spot six minutes later. It wasn’t to be enough, though, with the hosts holding on for the win.
