Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Scott opened the scoring after 16 minutes before turning into the provider for captain Kelly Smith, who headed home her Arsenal team-mate's cross 17 minutes later.
Eniola Aluko made it three four minutes after half-time when she ran on to Smith's pinpoint pass and fired into the far corner.
Scott rounded things off in the 64th minute when she found the top corner after a superb one-two between Aliuko and the substitute Lianne Sanderson.
Although England rarely produced their best form in front of a crowd of 8,362, manager Hope Powell insisted: "We did OK and the most important thing was getting three points.
"We were bright and lively, and although the final execution wasn't what it might have been at times, we kept creating chances and I'm encouraged by that."
Spain, who are England's next opponents, should provide a more difficult test of skill when the two sides meet at Shrewsbury on 25 November.
"It will be difficult against Spain. We beat them 4-1 last time we played them, but it will be harder this time and we'll have to avoid any complacency," Powell said.
