From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The 2015 Copa America starts on 11 June in Chile.

The tournament - the South American equivalent of the European Championships - will see 12 teams compete for the title currently held by defending champions Uruguay.

Originally, the tournament was due to be held in Brazil, but because of the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympics in the country, Brazil decided against hosting the tournament.

Chile were due to host the competition in 2019 and swapped with Brazil to hold it this year.

The football will kick off on 11 June and run for just under a month in nine venues across eight Chilean cities, Antofagasta, La Serena, Valparaiso, Rancagua, Temuco, Concepcion, Vina del Mar and the capital, Santiago, which will host the final in the Estadio Nacional on 4 July.

Ten teams come from South America, along with Mexico and Jamaica, and are split into three groups of four.

Argentina are currently the bookies' favourites to win the tournament, ahead of Brazil, Colombia and Chile, with Uruguay only fifth favourites because star man Luis Suarez is banned for the entire tournament because of his suspension for biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini.

The tournament will be shown exclusively in the UK by Premier Sports, with all matches also to be streamed on Xbox Live and YouTube.
