Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

After Jan Sorensen had given the visitors a first-half lead, goals from Carsten Janker, Giovane Elber and Thomas Linke in just seven minutes after the break overcame the Norwegians 3-1.

In Paris, goals from Nicolas Anelka, Laurent Robert, Christian and Talal El Karkouri led Paris St Germain to a 4-1 rout of the Swedish side Helsingborg. Bjorn Johansen had given the visitors hope with an equaliser just before the interval but the French side then took control to go second in the section on goal difference ahead of Rosenborg.

In Group E, Lionel Scaloni pounced in injury time to hand Deportivo La Coruña a 2-1 win over Hamburg in Spain. Walter Pandiani had given the hosts a 43rd-minute advantage but the Bosnian midfielder Sergej Barbarez levelled matters early in the second period, only for Scaloni to earn the Spanish side joint leadership of the group.

Juventus, who share that lead on four points, notched their first win of the campaign with a 2-1 home victory over Greek outfit Panathinaikos. The French striker David Trézéguet struck with a header seven minutes from time to hand the Italians the three points after Ioannis Goumas had equalised. Alessio Tacchinardi had put the hosts in front in the 35th minute.

In Brussels, PSV Eindhoven failed to take advantage of Manchester United and Dynamo Kiev's goalless draw as they went down 1-0 to Anderlecht. The defender Didier Dheedene claimed the all-important goal nine minutes from time to give the Belgians hope after their 5-1 drubbing by United last week. The result means United stay top of Group G by a point.
