Harry Kane has been named in Tottenham’s starting XI for the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City at Wembley after recovering from an ankle injury. Kevin De Bruyne has also recovered from injury and starts the game for City.

Kane turned his ankle during Spurs’ 2-2 draw with Everton, which turned out to be Jose Mourinho’s final match as Tottenham manager.

Interim head coach Ryan Mason oversaw an opening win in the Premier League as Spurs came back to beat Southampton. Mason said Spurs were taking Kane’s progress “hour by hour” as he stayed coy over the likelihood of the England captain appearing in the final.

Reports emerged on Sunday morning suggesting Kane would be involved in some capacity and that news appeared to be confirmed when Kane emerged with the rest of the squad at the stadium this lunchtime.
