The Cherries made a lightning start, going ahead in two minutes through Yann Kermorgant’s acrobatic strike and ran the game for the first 20 minutes.
A superb double save by Artur Boruc kept them ahead at the interval but five minutes after the break Teddy Bishop equalised. Four minutes later Matt Ritchie restored Bournemouth’s lead after good work by Callum Wilson. Tokelo Rantie, who was injured in a penalty appeal when he collided with two defenders, suffered a dislocated shoulder and his departure form the game led to 12 minutes of added time.
Ipswich snatched a point with a header by Daryl Murphy. Mick McCarthy, the Ipswich manager, said: “I would take a point without getting off the bus because of how competitive this league is.”
Stuart Pearce’s Nottingham Forest continued their revival with a 3-0 win at Wolves where Henry Lansbury scored one of the goals. Pearce, who picked Lansbury after he trained well on Thursday, said: “If we are to be a successful side, Lansbury has to contribute with performances and goals.”
Posh chairman launches Twitter rant after defeat
Darragh MacAnthony unleashed a stinging attack on Darren Ferguson and the rest of his Peterborough United management team after their 2-1 home defeat by Swindon.
Posh’s chairman said via Twitter: “I apologize to Posh fans as I cant defend management setting up for a 0-0 at home, nor defend at 0-2 down waiting till 72nd Min to bring on our leading goal scorer/attacking plyrs. Nor can I defend the players waiting till 0-2 down to start playing with attacking mentality. I have given them all patience, nurturing support but now time for different approach. Not good enough. My apologies!”
Jimmy Floyd has Burton flying up to the top
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink continued his fine start as Burton Albion’s manager when the Brewers beat third-placed Luton 1‑0 at home to join Wycombe at the top of League Two. Phil Edwards headed the only goal from Matty Palmer’s corner to sink Luton, allowing Burton to build on last week’s victory at Wycombe.
