From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Argyle manager is annoyed that his side are not getting the credit they deserve but hopes yesterday's victory will make people pay attention. "It was a battle out there," he said. "It wasn't pretty but we have got great team spirit. Maybe more people will take a bit of notice of us now because we are not one of the fashionable clubs."
Argyle were reduced to 10 men in the 48th minute when Mathias Doumbe received his second yellow card for a foul on Morten Bisgaard. It could have signalled the start of the end for Argyle, as Derby were in the ascendancy having cancelled out Paul Wotton's 44th-minute spot-kick opener with Arturo Lupoli's sixth goal of the season in first-half stoppage time.
The on-loan Arsenal teenager stuck a leg out to turn Michael Johnson's shot past home keeper Luke McCormick. But Wotton's second penalty conversion put Argyle back in front in the 63rd minute after Johnson fouled Barry Hayles.
Adam Bolder almost restored parity with a deft chip but McCormick back-pedalled to make a magnificent save, tipping the ball over. The save proved crucial as Argyle went 3-1 ahead when Tony Capaldi's pacy inswinging corner was headed home by Marcel Seip at the far upright.
