Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The former Chelsea and Leeds United striker has been brilliant since taking charge of Burton in November last year, winning League Two last season and leading the Brewers to the top of League One in this campaign.
After 20 matches the club have picked up 41 points, leaving them two points clear of Coventry City at the top of the table; Hasselbaink has won 33 of his 54 matches in total.
Neil Warnock has been in charge of QPR since the club sacked Chris Ramsey on 4 November, picking up one win, one draw and one defeat in his three matches.
QPR have now made an official approach for the 43-year-old.
"They can speculate, but I can't stop people doing that or control that," Hasselbaink said when asked about the speculation by BBC Radio Derby.
"The only thing I can do is make my players work as hard as possible and work with them.
"I make sure I give them everything I have got and they give everything they have got for this club. That is what we will keep on doing."
QPR are currently 12th in the Championship with 23 points from 18 matches.
