Your support makes all the difference.Huddersfield Town have revealed the actual new kit for the upcoming season following a prank in collaboration with Paddy Power.
The Terriers appeared to unveil their new home shirt with an enormous sash detailing the company’s logo, leaving fans outraged.
The release caused uproar, but the Championship club have finally come clean, revealing a new design and the reason behind the joke.
The move came from Paddy Power’s ‘Save our Shirt’ campaign.
And it is geared towards promoting unbranded football kits and returning the shirt to the fans.
As such the Irish bookmaker have forfeited their right to the space on the shirt as part of their sponsorship agreement.
Despite suspicions, Town wore the kit in a friendly against Rochdale, leaving some to believe they had actually chosen the outrageous design.
The blue and white shirt, designed by Umbro, is now without a sponsor entirely though.
“We’re happy to support Paddy Power’s ‘Save Our Shirt’ campaign with the launch of our actual 2019/20 home kit this morning,” Town’s Commercial Director Sean Jarvis said.
“It has been a very interesting two days’ since the original launch on Wednesday, which we expected, but we’ve always had in mind that our supporters would understand, and really like the real kit when it was properly revealed today.
“We’re really happy with this kit, which is unique in modern-day football. I’d like to thank Paddy Power, Umbro and everyone else involved in the kit for their hard work towards today.”
The 2019/20 adult home shirt is priced at £48, with junior shirts available at £38 and baby kits at £33.
Jan Siewert’s side kick off their new season after relegation from the Premier League against Derby County on 5 August.
