Sky Blues supporters have already been through hell and back after their team were forced to play ‘home’ games in Northampton, with a dispute over the Ricoh Arena meaning Steven Pressley’s side were a mainstay at the Sixfields Stadium – home of Northampton Town FC.
With things appearing to be on the up with the recent return to the Ricoh, this latest revelation will provide further embarrassment for the club’s loyal fans after a vest on sale in the club shop were seen to have the remnants of Leicester’s ‘King Power’ logo still visible.
A white vest made by Puma – which costs £15 – was pictured by a Twitter user by the name of @CK_covblaze, and one fan told the Coventry Telegraph that is made the club look like a “laughing stock”.
“The club is a complete laughing stock,” said the unnamed fan.
“First they took the team out of Coventry and now they're using the sponsor's logo of one of our rivals on merchandise in the club shop.
“It's a disgrace and I've had enough. People are laughing at us on social networks. It's beyond a joke.
“You wouldn't see Liverpool's Standard Chartered shirt logo on a Man United shirt in the Old Trafford club shop, would you?"
Other fans voice their displeasure at seeing the kit, and used it as another chance to call for the club owner's SISU to leave.
The vest is believed to be an old Leicester training kit from last season, but Coventry confirmed it was an isolated incident and had checked that the rest of their current stock was as advertised.
The club said: "This 2013/14 vest top was an isolated factory defect. The range has been on sale since last year with no issues. Other vest stock has now been checked, with no defects found and the manufacturer has launched an investigation."
