From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

QPR will start life outside of the Premier League with a short trip across London to Charlton.

Chris Ramsey has been tasked with restoring Rangers' top-flight status and he will start his bid to do so at The Valley on August 8.

The other sides relegated from the Premier League, Burnley and Hull, start away at Uwe Rosler's Leeds and at home to Huddersfield respectively.

Runaway League One champions Bristol City kick-off at currently managerless Sheffield Wednesday, runners-up MK Dons go to Rotherham and play-off winners Preston play host to Championship play-off losers Middlesbrough.

Paul Clement's time at Derby will begin at Bolton, while Marinus Dijkhuizen's time at Brentford starts at home to Ipswich.

Elsewhere on the opening day Birmingham host Reading, Wolves go to Blackburn, Cardiff are at home to Fulham and Nottingham Forest make the trip to Brighton.

QPR's subsequent fixtures take in Cardiff (home), Wolves (away), Rotherham (home) and Huddersfield (away), with five games in August a reminder to them and the other relegated sides of the 46-game slog of the Championship.

Tuesday August 18 sees the meeting of two former Real Madrid assistant managers in the shape of Derby's Clement and Middlesbrough's Aitor Karanka, while new Leeds manager Rosler will hope to survive owner Massimo Cellino's notorious trigger finger in order to face former club Brentford on September 12.

Hull against Burnley is a stand-out tie on Boxing Day - both will hope to be on the road to a Premier League return by then - with QPR at home to Hull on January 2 equally appealing.

Preston manager Simon Grayson will be eagerly looking forward to visits to former clubs Leeds on December 19 and Huddersfield a week later on Boxing Day, while Hull boss Steve Bruce must wait until March 5 to go back to Birmingham.

Rotherham and Sheffield Wednesday's first derby comes at the New York Stadium on October 24, Huddersfield host rivals Leeds on November 7, with Nottingham Forest at home to Derby on the same day.

Little love is lost between Brentford, Fulham and QPR, with Brentford hosting Ramsey's men on October 31 and then going to Fulham on December 12. Fulham and QPR first meet on September 26.

Burnley's relegation means a return of their derby with Blackburn and the first instalment comes at Ewood Park on October 24 with the Turf Moor return on March 5.

The season runs through to May 7 and QPR will hope that is a memorable day when they play host to Bristol City, with Hull at home to Rotherham and Burnley travelling to Charlton.

Wolves close out at home to Sheffield Wednesday, MK Dons face Nottingham Forest and Leeds go to Preston. Brighton will make the long trip to Middlesbrough to round off the regular season, Huddersfield are at home to Brentford and Derby play Ipswich.

Elsewhere it is Blackburn v Reading, Cardiff v Birmingham and Fulham v Bolton.
