The English Football League has announced that one player or staff member has tested positive for coronavirus and is now in isolation.

The positive result was returned from the last round of testing over the last seven days, with 2,855 tests carried out across all 24 Championship clubs.

An EFL statement read: “The EFL can confirm that 2,855 players and club staff from the 24 Championship Clubs were tested over the course of the past week with one individual testing positive from one Club.

“Those players or Club staff who have tested positive will now self-isolate in line with the guidelines provided by the EFL and only those who have tested negative will be permitted to take part in any first team activities.”

Tests will continue across the Championship until the season has concluded, with results published by the EFL each Wednesday.

The EFL also announced that one positive test was received from League One players and staff in the last week, which occurred at one of the two play-off finalists in Wycombe Wanderers and Oxford United.

“The EFL can confirm that 286 players and Club staff were tested from five League One Clubs over the course of the past week with one individual testing positive from one club,” the statement added.

“Those players or Club staff who tested positive self-isolated in line with the guidelines provided by the EFL and only those who have tested negative were permitted to take part in any first team activities.”

Wycombe defeated Oxford on Monday night in the final to secure their place in next season’s Championship, with League One testing now set to cease until the new season.
