Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Jose Riga’s home side had the better of the first half and led after the break through Nathan Delfouneso, only for Donervon Daniels’ own-goal to bring Norwich level.
Blackpool looked set for just a third point of the campaign before Grabban scored with a deflected effort with 10 minutes left and youngster Murphy added a third a minute later.
It was the first time Blackpool had been beaten by more than one goal since the opening day. Although Blackpool had more chances, Grabban should have put Norwich in the lead before the interval, when he was played through by Wes Hoolahan only to turn wide from close range.
In the first minute after the break, the hosts moved in front when Nile Ranger’s shot was blocked by John Ruddy and Delfouneso swept in the rebound on the volley for his team’s fourth goal of the season.
Norwich responded when Daniels headed a Hoolahan corner in off the post. Grabban’s deflected effort from the edge of the area flew past goalkeeper Joe Lewis and Murphy surged forward and found the bottom corner a minute later.
