Blackpool have been forced to delete a Twitter account belonging to the club after calling fans ‘a***hole w*****s’.

The now-defunct account, which carried the handle @CommercialBFC, was primarily responsible for updating fans with commercial activities at the club, but went beyond its remit this weekend to argue with supporters.

The targeted fan offered to donate £20, presumably sarcastically, to the Gary Parkinson Foundation if the pitch at Bloomfield Road was in a suitable condition for the first home match of the League One season.

Speaking in an official statement, released on the verified club account, said: "The club has been made aware of comments emanating from a Twitter account overnight that has previously advertised commercial opportunities.

"This account has not been utilised for promotional purposes by the club for some time and is not accessible to any current employees.

"The club does not condone the views expressed and has since had this account removed."
