From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Barnsley sacked Keith Hill at the end of last month after they slipped to the bottom of the table and were hoping to appoint Sean O'Driscoll as his permanent replacement.
But O'Driscoll, 55, surprisingly sacked by Nottingham Forest just hours after their Boxing Day win over Leeds, turned down the Barnsley job on Sunday and club director Don Rowing told Press Association Sport this morning that interviews would resume at Oakwell in the next 48 hours.
Inverness chairman Kenny Cameron said in a statement: "We have given Barnsley FC permission to speak to Terry.
"Given our current position in the SPL and the fact we have a cup semi-final on the horizon, it is inevitable that if any managerial positions come up our management team will no doubt be on the radar.
"We will be doing everything possible to ensure that Terry remains with the club and finishes what has been an incredible journey to date for us all."
