Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

"It's always nice to win because I'm paid to win games and that win was very welcome," Adams said. "The players were fantastic. To a man they stood up and were counted."
Leicester had suffered a miserable 3-2 defeat at QPR at the weekend. "A few things were said after Saturday and the lads responded in exactly the right way," Adams added.
Leicester's goalkeeper, Kevin Pressman, produced a fine save to deny Gillingham's Darren Byfield what looked a certain goal. Nayron Nosworthy broke down the right and squared for Byfield, who thought he had scored, until Pressman flung himself across goal to divert the ball behind for a corner.
"Kevin's save was a turning point. I'm pleased for him - ever since he came in he has not let us down," said Adams. "Our front two were lively as well."
After Pressman's second-half heroics Heath was on hand to bundle home after Nikos Dabizas had his header saved by Steve Banks. The visitors got a deserved second in the 71st minute when Trevor Benjamin broke on the left before crossing to Dublin, who shot past Banks.
