Harry Kane was delighted to earn Tottenham a replay as his last-gasp penalty rescued a 2-2 FA Cup third-round draw against Leicester at White Hart Lane.

Christian Eriksen's early opener was cancelled out by a header from Marcin Wasilewski as the first half finished level.

Shinji Okazaki put the away side ahead for the first time just after the break but Kane's late spot-kick made sure there would be a reunion between the two Barclays Premier League sides.

After netting his 50th goal for Spurs, England striker Kane told BBC One: "It was very important. We definitely didn't want to go out of this competition in the third round and we're still in there.

"We're playing again on Wednesday in the Premier League and then obviously we'll have to play away from home in a couple of games."

The 22-year-old, who replaced Tom Carroll after 68 minutes, admitted it was difficult to watch the majority of the game from the bench, but said he was fully confident in manager Mauricio Pochettino's decisions on the pitch.

He added: "You want to be playing all the time, especially when you're watching it from the bench.

"But it's down to the manager who plays, and when the subs come on, so I'm just happy I was able to make a contribution when I came on and we're still in the cup."

Kane believes Tottenham will continue to kick on with a positive stride and was keen to praise the club's supporters for their much-needed energy, especially during the second half.

He said: "(It's a) great bunch of lads, everyone involved. The staff, the players - everyone. It's great.

"Hopefully we can continue working hard, putting in the hard work on the training field and hopefully we'll keep progressing.

"Praise to the fans, the fans are amazing. They kept us in the game and we're happy we can repay them with a replay."
