Tottenham travel to Southampton this evening in the last of the replays of the FA Cup fourth round.

The two sides met 10 days ago at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium where Son Heung-min put Spurs in front, only for Sofiane Boufal to equalise late in the day and force a replay at St Mary’s. The prize for the winner is a home tie against Norwich City in the fifth round.

Spurs’ new signing Steven Bergwijn, who scored on his debut against Manchester City on the weekend, is ineligible to play.

Ahead of the tie, Saints manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has thrown his weight behind calls to end Cup replays.

“My personal opinion is I’m not a friend of these replays, first because it minimises the chances of the smaller teams to maybe make these big miracles and go through to the next round,” he said. “The second thing is the schedule. We were all accepting that we would have this replay in the winter break.”

Predicted line-ups

Tottenham: Gazzaniga; Aurier, Sanchez, Vertonghen, Sessegnon; Ndombele, Dier; Lamela, Fernandes, Son, Lucas

Southampton: Gunn; Valery, Vestergaard, Bednarek, Bertrand; Boufal, Romeu, Hojbjerg, Redmond; Adams, Obafemi

Prediction

Tottenham will be full of confidence after their 2-0 victory over Manchester City at the weekend. Despite a heavy defeat at Anfield, the Saints showed promise going forward and Hasenhuttl wants his side to have no fear for this replay. It wouldn’t be a shock if Southampton gave Spurs a tight game, but Mourinho’s side are strong favourites to get over the line. Tottenham 2-1 Southampton.
