Manchester United host Brighton in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup on Saturday, with United looking to bounce back from their disappointing exit to Sevilla in the Champions League mid-week.

Jose Mourinho was ferociously defensive of his record as United manager in a 12-minute rant in his pre-match press conference ahead of the game against Brighton, and progression in the FA Cup would be a reputable way to silence his critics – for now.

For Brighton, however, their survival in the league is nearing ever closer to a reality, and if Hughton is able to top off this superb season with a charge to the FA Cup final, it would be a dream debut in the Premier League for the Seagulls.

Injury doubts remain over Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial, whilst Brighton will run a late fitness test on French midfielder Anthony Knockaert.

What time does it start?

Manchester United vs Brighton & Hove Albion kicks off at 19:45 on Saturday 17 March.

Where can I watch it?

The match will be shown live on BT Sport 1. Coverage starts at 19:00.

It’s a big game for…

Jose Mourinho. After crashing out to Sevilla and following that up with an explosive attack on his own club, success on Saturday against Brighton is simply crucial for Mourinho. With the Premier League and Champions League gone for United, the FA Cup is United’s only remaining form of redemption in the current campaign, and the Portuguese will be hoping his side can put in a performance against Chris Hughton’s side.

Best stat…

The last time Brighton beat Manchester United was in 1982, in a 1-0 win in League Division One.

Player to watch…

Pascal Gross. Brighton’s summer signing from Ingolstad has been a star performer for Hughton’s side this season, with the highest number of assists in a team outside of the top six. If Brighton are to progress in the cup, Gross will almost certainly be involved, and the trip to Old Trafford is yet another test for the German to prove his worth.
