£32.5m striker Christian Benteke captains Liverpool for the first time tonight in their FA Cup third round tie at Exeter, although manager Jurgen Klopp has picked an experimental XI.

Before kick-off, Klopp explained that he would have to alter his usual team. In total he has made 11 changes from the

"None of the players who played the last five or six games in a row will play at Exeter," Klopp said this week. "It is not possible. We can try to make a team. It is not easy, but we will find one. I have to make the right decision for Liverpool and for my team. I have to make changes.

"The team that plays will want to win 100 per cent but it won't be a team that has played together often. If someone wants to write a headline (about lacking respect), it is not the truth. We respect the FA Cup. That is one reason for the team we will play.

"It is a chance for Exeter and they have to take it. That's football. Our squad is big with all the young players and we have to use this quality now."
