From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

After Chelsea were dumped out of the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain in midweek both teams are playing for little else this season with the FA Cup their last chance at success.
Both sides have an outside chance at qualifying for the Europa League, but while Guus Hiddink is unbeaten in the Premier League since taking over, the Toffees have been in awful form since the turn of the year, though there has been some improvement in recent weeks.
- For the home side, Bryan Oviedo is doubtful and Kevin Mirallas is banned
- However, Gareth Barry and Tom Cleverley return for Roberto Martinez, although John Stones is dropped
- John Terry was assessed before kick-off, having missed the last six matches because of a hamstring injury, but is only fit enough for the bench
- Diego Costa and Eden Hazard both came off against PSG because of injury, Costa starts but Hazard does not make the squad
