About the fixture…

Andre Villas Boas may have been right to slam the home fans for the “negative energy” at White Hart Lane on Sunday, but he must find a way to give them something to cheer about against the very same opponents in the Capital One cup tonight.

Spurs beat Hull three days ago, courtesy of a controversial Roberto Soldado penalty, after failing to break down Steve Bruce’s side from open play.

For this match, Villas Boas looks set to make wholesale changes to his team, with £30m-signing Erik Lamela and out-of-favour Emanuel Adebayor likely to play a part.

Steve Bruce’s men may have won only once in five away games this season, but Hull’s attacking force will be boosted by the likely return of midfielder Robert Koren and striker Danny Graham in their quest to reach the Capital One quarter-final for the first time.
