From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Spurs will head north full of confidence after a scintillating 5-3 New Year's Day win over Chelsea, but Kane - who scored two and created two more in the win - recognises that Burnley are on a fine run themselves.
The Clarets, who put up a good fight in a 2-1 defeat at White Hart Lane two weeks ago, have recorded back-to-back draws against Manchester City and Burnley away from home in their last two outings, so confidence will not be lacking at Turf Moor either.
"We all enjoyed the win against Chelsea but we won't get carried away," Kane said.
"We'll keep our feet on the ground and look forward to this game.
"We want to do well in all competitions and Burnley away will be a tough tie for us.
"Burnley are a good side, played well at White Hart Lane and they've enjoyed some good results recently. It will be difficult for us, without a doubt."
While Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has been used to rotating his players this season in the Europa League, it remains to be seen what sort of side Burnley counterpart Sean Dyche will choose to field given his side's precarious position in the bottom three of the Premier League.
However George Boyd, who experienced an FA Cup final with Hull last season, believes a cup run can aid Burnley's cause this season.
"We can go into our next run of games full of confidence now on the back of the last two results," he said on the club's website.
"It's a great game and hopefully there'll be a big crowd at Turf Moor to get behind us.
"The FA Cup still has that magic and I was lucky enough to get to the final last year with Hull City and that was a great occasion."
